Orchard House

Costa Blanca

The design replaces an outdated property from the 70s with a contemporary villa enjoying far views towards the Mediterranean Sea. The plot is surrounded by a dense amount of holiday villas and mature trees, which are preserved in the new scheme. These trees serve as a natural screen, providing privacy for the main garden area from neighbouring properties.

The villa itself is designed as a single-story volume with a compact layout. It strategically organizes daytime and night-time activities around a central corridor flooded with natural daylight.

Floor-to-ceiling windows are employed in most spaces creating a sense of openness and connection with the surroundings with roof overhangs that block sun penetration during the summer season whilst allowing natural heating the rest of the year.

The architectural expression of the house seeks tranquillity, emphasizing the horizontality of the terrain. An exposed concrete roof rests upon a series of walls that extend the house towards the horizon contrasting with the verticality of the chimneys.
